Fire Art

Natural wood slabs, cut from fallen trees destined for the burn pile, keep carbon sequestered when used as a canvas for nature art.  Working with raw wood slabs and the torches brings much please to me as a nature artist.

I like to burn images in the negative - that is to burn the wood around plants and flowers (burn the background) then add pigment to the flora.

Most of my Wood, torch and pigment pieces sell when I put them on social media.  I do have some prints on Fine Art America with the torched wood patterns.

If you are interested in getting started with fire art, I suggest either a small Dremel type butane torch or a Colwood electric torch.
