One of my favorite art forms is the mandala. Full of opportunities to play with repetitions and patterns in design, mandalas bring in enough abstract to relax tight design approaches and allow for 'fun' play with form and colors.
'Fun' is an important part of healing art therapy. When creating mandalas, stress and anxiety can be released, cortisol production down regulated and blood pressure managed. Finally, in addition to all the health benefits found in mandala art therapy activities, mandalas are beautiful to hang on any wall.
