Native materials can be sustainable when harvested with consideration. Saw palmetto grows like crazy here in Florida and across the southeastern US.
I've always been fascinated with the fronds as building materials ever since I was a youngster growing up at the edge of the everglades where native Floridians would roof their chickee houses with palm and palmetto fronds.
Here is a utility/feed storage shed I built with a cheapo diy green roof and saw palmetto clad walls. The night blooming moonflower has taken over (as most morning glories do eventually) on the lightweight green roof.
I like the nature colors and texture and of course as an outdoors soul, love the camoflauge effect. #architecture #sustainability #nativeplants #prepper #homestead #permaculture
